Main Palico

The Main Palico will help you throughout the game, even online.
Its ablilities will be selected depending on the Palicoes you set as 1st stringers.
Example:
-If you have 2 fighting palicoes, your main palico will have a Fighting forte and will be able to use the Demon Horn skill. To unlock the next Fighting forte skills you will need more Fighting palicoes set as 1st stringers.
-If you have 2 fighting palicoes and 3 healing palicoes, your main palico will have a Healing forte ad will be able to use the Health hornand the Detox Horn. Besides, since you have 2 Fighting palicoes it'll be able to use the Demon Horn.

Fortes

My opinion about fortes:
Fighting: Useful to speed up small hunts or low rank hunts.
Protection: Useful to avoid getting focused by Monsters.
Support: Not bad, but I'd rather use other palicoes.
Healing: This is one of the most used fortes, heals are always nice.
Bombing: You can use your own bombs so I can't find any use to Bombing palicoes.
Stealing: Useful to get more items from Monsters, otherwise don't use them.
Treasure: Useful for gathering (Example: Charm farming), otherwise don't use them.
Launching: You can jump from edges by yourself so don't bother.
Stamina: There are other ways to buff your stamina, no need to use a palico.
The fortes I'd use are:
Overall: Protection or Healing
Low rank hunts: Fighting
Gathering: Treasure
Looting: Stealing
And the combinations of 1st stringers:
Full healing: 4-5 Healing
Great healing skills but I'd say that Parting Gift is rather useless, you can use that slot to use your favourite forte.
Full defense: 5 Protection
Your palicoes will taunt the Monster and, with a decent armor, they will resist plenty of time.
Specially useful for gunners.
Buffing: 2 Fighting, 2 Protection, 1 Healing
Just a set up to get attack & defense buffs and have a palico to heal you. You can buff yourself instead and run another palico build.

Team attack

Sometimes your palicoes will activate their Team Attack. The Team Attack used depends on the deployed 1st stringer palico.
There are 3 kinds of Team Attack and each of them have elemental variations.
Rath-of-Meow: Pretty useless IMO, they hardly attack when they use this Team Attack so it's a waste.
Purrtuoso: The best Team Attack, it heals and boosts your health & stamina.
Flying-Bomb: Nice damage and it blinds, but I still prefer Purrtuoso.

Palicoes can have up to 3 skills and 6 skill points.
A skill uses 1-3 points.
You can see the skill points per skill in "Poor Man's" Palico Guide. (Page 12)
Skills I'd go for:
Earplugs (2): Avoid Palico debuffs.
Non-Stick Fur (1): Avoid Palico debuffs.
Negate Wind (2): Avoid Palico debuffs.
Attack/Defense up (3): +15 attack & defense is nice.
Nine Lives(2): +10 attack or defense every time your Palico faints (This happens a lot) up to 8 times.
Bounceback (2): Avoid Palico debuffs.
Other skills:
Team Attack related: I only use Purrtuoso and once it's casted the palicoes are invicible so no bother about this skills.
Last Stand: +50 attack & defense but your Palico won't come back if it faints.......too risky.
Casting Machine Skills: Nothing to say, go for your favourites.

This will be your main method to obtain scraps for Palico gear.
How to win:
-Have in mind that Palico's level and enthusiasm affects the result.
-Make sure you get a winner attack type (Melee/Ranged/Bomb)
-If you want more rewards try to get a Palico with Treasure Hunter or Reward Reaper.
Skills to aim for:
-Treasure Hunter/Reward Reaper: More Loot! (Reward Reaper is better than treasure Hunter)
-Unreal Block: Blocking the enemy's attack will save you sometimes.
-Melee/Ranged/Bomb onslaught: Best damage skills.
Other Skills:
Melee/Ranged/Bomb +: This will boost your attack but it won't deal damage.
Recovery boost: If you think you need this you will just lose.
My skill build:
2 Reward Reapers, 1 Unreal Block, 2 Melee, Ranged or Bomb Onslaught.
